Per Alice Cooper Johnny “è una rockstar che ogni tanto fa dei film” così la rockstar internazionale definisce il noto attore che a breve ritorna sui grandi schermi da re. Nei panni di Luigi XV, Johnny Deep infatti aprirà la 76ª edizione del Festival di Cannes con il film Jean du Barry, diretto da Maiwenn. La pellicola sarà proiettata in anteprima mondiale martedì 16 maggio al Grand Théàtre Lumière e uscirà lo stesso giorno nelle sale francesi. Un artista poliedrico, Deep che dopo appena due mesi suonerà, come unica tappa italiana al Marostica Summer Festival il 2 luglio, cartellone firmato da DuePunti Eventi in collaborazione con la Città di Marostica. Nella storia del rock sono esistite tante superband, ma nessuna è inaspettata e sorprendente come quella degli Hollywood Vampires, creati da Alice Cooper nel 2012 con due icone dello stile di vita rock come Joe Perry degli Aerosmith e Johnny Depp. Di solito le superband nascono dalla fine di altre band (vedi i Blind Faith in cui suonano Eric Clapton e Ginger Baker dei Cream e Steve Winwood dei Traffic) o dall’incontro di musicisti diversi che si ritrovano in un progetto (i Travelling Wilburys di Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison e George Harrison) ma nessuno ha mai pensato di mettere insieme rock e cinema come Alice Cooper, scegliendo quale nome quello del club di amici con cui negli anni settanta passava tutte le notti nei bar di Los Angeles, di cui hanno fatto parte anche John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Keith Moon e Harry Nilsson.
Così per la nona edizione del Marostica Summer Festival 2023 si esibiranno come prima ed unica tappa nazionale il 2 luglio, gli Hollywood Vampires, la “best bar band in the world” formata dall’attore e musicista Johnny Depp con Alice Cooper, Joe Perry e Tommy Henriksen.
Dopo quattro anni di assenza, il supergruppo americano Hollywood Vampires tornerà in Italia in un unico esplosivo spettacolo. La tradizione degli Hollywood Vampires è quella di suonare un tributo sfrenato ai grandi eroi perduti della musica e al loro stesso materiale originale, pubblicato nel loro album in studio «Rise». Non facendo mistero del loro amore per il rock’n’roll britannico classico, arricchiscono i loro set con brani di The Who, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Motörhead e altri.
Gli Hollywood Vampires si sono riuniti per la prima volta per registrare nel 2015, unendo l’amore condiviso per le loro canzoni preferite e il desiderio di celebrare i loro «amici morti e ubriachi» suonando la musica degli eroi caduti. Prende il nome dal locale di Alice degli anni ’70 che includeva artisti del calibro di John Lennon, Keith Moon e Mickey Dolenz, esibizioni leggendarie seguirono in tutto il mondo. Con classici di artisti del calibro di The Doors, Love, AC/DC e altri, oltre ovviamente ai successi di Alice e Aerosmith, gli Hollywood Vampires sono stati votati come «miglior performance» del 2018 alla Wembley Arena di Londra nel loro ultimo viaggio nel Regno Unito. L’album di 16 tracce «Rise», prodotto da Tommy Henriksen e gli Hollywood Vampires, è uno degli album rock and roll più puri, impenitenti e divertenti degli ultimi tempi, realizzato da maestri del mestiere e veri fan della forma.
A differenza del loro disco di debutto del 2015, il secondo album è composto principalmente da materiale originale, scritto dalla band. Ci sono, tuttavia, nello spirito della missione originale dei Vampires, tre cover di canzoni originariamente scritte e registrate da leggendari rocker morti troppo giovani.
Sul Marostica Summer Festival interviene l’organizzazione Valerio Simonato, titolare di DuePunti Eventi e direttore artistico del festival che dichiara: «Anche quest’anno abbiamo costruito un cartellone di altissimo livello con ospiti internazionali e fra i più importanti artisti italiani del momento. Negli anni la manifestazione è cresciuta in modo esponenziale, posizionandosi fra i più prestigiosi eventi della scena europea. Non a caso siamo riusciti ad ospitare l’unica data italiana degli Hollywood Vampires, per la quale stiamo ricevendo prenotazioni da ogni parte d’Italia e con provenienze anche dall’estero, così come per i Simply Red. Il successo di Marostica Summer Festival, dove sono passati negli anni icone come Ringo Star, Simple Minds, Toto, Riccardo Cocciante, Ben Harper, George Benson, è un sapiente mix di diversi generi musicali e di spettacolo, produzioni speciali e prime internazionali, immersi in un teatro all’aperto raccolto e molto suggestivo come Piazza Castello. La scommessa è stata quella di puntare su qualità della programmazione, bellezza del luogo e, in collaborazione con la Città, massima organizzazione nella gestione di notevoli flussi di pubblico, curando sicurezza e ospitalità».

A unique event in Italy as part of the international tour
For Alice Cooper, Johnny «is a rock star who occasionally makes films». This is how the international rock star defines the well-known actor who will soon be returning to the big screens as a king. In the role of Louis XV, Johnny Deep will open the 76th Cannes Film Festival with the film Jean du Barry, directed by Maiwenn. The film will have its world premiere on Tuesday 16 May at the Grand Théàtre Lumière and will be released the same day in French cinemas. Deep will play, after just two months, as the only Italian stop at the Marostica Summer Festival on the 2th July, organised by DuePunti Eventi in collaboration with the City of Marostica. There have been many superbands in the history of rock, but none is as unexpected and surprising as that of the Hollywood Vampires, created by Alice Cooper in 2012 with two rock lifestyle icons like Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Johnny Depp. Usually, superbands are born from the end of other bands (see Blind Faith in which Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker of Cream and Steve Winwood of Traffic play) or from the meeting of different musicians who come together in a project (Bob Dylan’s Travelling Wilburys, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and George Harrison), but no one has ever thought of bringing rock and cinema together like Alice Cooper, choosing as his name the club of friends with whom he spent every night in Los Angeles bars in the 1970s, and to which John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Keith Moon and Harry Nilsson also belonged.
So, for the ninth edition of the Marostica Summer Festival 2023, the Hollywood Vampires, the ‘best bar band in the world’ formed by actor and musician Johnny Depp with Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen, will perform as the first and only national stop on 2 July.
After a four-year absence, the American supergroup Hollywood Vampires will return to Italy in one explosive show. The Hollywood Vampires’ tradition is to play an unbridled tribute to the great lost heroes of music and their own original material, released on their studio album ‘Rise’. Making no secret of their love for classic British rock’n’roll, they enrich their sets with songs by The Who, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Motörhead and others.
The Hollywood Vampires got together for the first time to record in 2015, combining a shared love for their favourite songs and a desire to celebrate their ‘dead and drunk friends’ by playing the music of fallen heroes. Named after Alice’s 1970s venue that included the likes of John Lennon, Keith Moon and Mickey Dolenz, legendary performances followed around the world. Featuring classics from the likes of The Doors, Love, AC/DC and others, plus of course Alice and Aerosmith hits, the Hollywood Vampires were voted 2018’s ‘best performance’ at London’s Wembley Arena on their latest UK tour. The 16-track album ‘Rise’, produced by Tommy Henriksen and the Hollywood Vampires, is one of the most pure, unapologetic and fun rock and roll albums of recent times, made by masters of the craft and true fans of the form.
Unlike their 2015 debut record, the second album consists mainly of original material written by the band. There are, however, in the spirit of the Vampires’ original mission, three covers of songs originally written and recorded by legendary rockers who died too young.
On the Marostica Summer Festival, Valerio Simonato, owner of DuePunti Eventi and artistic director of the festival, says: «Once again this year we have built a top-level programme with international guests and some of the most important Italian artists of the moment. The success of the Marostica Summer Festival, where over the years icons such as Ringo Star, Simple Minds, Toto, Riccardo Cocciante, Ben Harper, and George Benson have passed through, is a skilful mix of different musical genres and shows, special productions and international premieres, immersed in a cosy and very evocative open-air theatre such as Piazza Castello. The bet was to focus on the quality of the programming, the beauty of the place and, in collaboration with the City, maximum organisation in the management of considerable public flows, taking care of security and hospitality».
